UCLA assistant coach Adrian Klemm suspended for first 2 games
UCLA assistant coach Adrian Klemm will miss the Bruins' first two games of the season because of a team-imposed suspension.
Klemm had been reinstated to the team in June after he served a three-month suspension from the NCAA. He was suspended for allegedly violating NCAA recruiting rules and his team suspension comes after the school said it completed an investigation. The team self-reported Klemm's alleged violations. He's UCLA's offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator.
"We have a little more clarity," Coach Jim Mora said after the announcement. "I'm not allowed yet to speak on it, but at least we can plan for those first couple weeks and how we're going to address it. So that is a positive."
As to how will the team will handle the offensive line while Klemm is serving the suspension, Mora said, "I don't know yet. It is something we'll sit down and talk about. I feel very confident that we have the men in place to make it work. We have an excellent staff. I feel comfortable with it."
Klemm will miss games against Virginia and UNLV. He was also fined.
He joined UCLA's staff in 2011. An offensive lineman in college at Hawaii, he was a second-round draft pick of the New England Patriots in 2000 and played five seasons for the team. He played for the Green Bay Packers in 2005 and previously coached at SMU before he moved to Los Angeles.
